Software should adapt to the way bookstores actually work

was created to close the gap between Square’s general-purpose tools and the real inventory, receiving, and catalog workflows that independent bookstores depend on every day.

Our background

The idea for

came from family who ran their own bookstore on top of Square. The cost, flexibility, and easy onboarding were appealing, but they also lived through the day-to-day friction of receiving workarounds, manual data entry, and missing bookstore-specific workflows.

Eventually, after fighting those limitations long enough, they moved to a much more expensive all-in-one bookstore system. That experience made the gap obvious: there should be a simpler way for bookstores to keep using Square without giving up the workflows they actually need.

is built by a small team with two decades of software development experience, with the goal of closing that gap in a focused, practical way.

Our mission

In order to compete with large retailers and corporations, independent bookstores need software that allows them to simplify and speed up their operations without forcing them to change how they work, or lock them into expensive, inflexible systems.

Just as Square helps small businesses get up and running without the cost and complexity of traditional point-of-sale systems, we enable bookstores to scale and compete without the cost and complexity of traditional bookstore software, with the features and experience expected from modern software.
